Vt. sheriff’s deputy who caused mistrial loses job
BARRE, Vt. (WCAX) - A Windsor County sheriff’s deputy who caused a mistrial in Barre back in March has lost his job. Cpl. Mark Belisle provided security at the Washington County court in February during the sexual assault trial of Kasey Giorgio, who was found guilty. But in March, the judge ruled Belisle made inappropriate comments to a juror, which tainted the trial’s outcome. A mistrial was declared and Belisle was placed on administrative leave.

Multiple arrests following standoff in Barre
BARRE, Vt. (WCAX) - Several people were arrested following an incident in Barre City on Friday afternoon. According to the Barre City Police Department, officers responded to an apartment on South Main Street for a report of a fight. When officers arrived, they were told one of the men had a rifle and may have retreated to the basement. They say another group of men were reported to be hiding in the stairwell upstairs.

Vermont State Representative Jim Carroll pleads not guilty to DUI charge
Jim Carroll, the Vermont state representative accused of driving dunk to the State House appeared in court on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to a DUI charge. Back in February, the representative from Bennington was pulled over by Montpelier police for a loud muffler. But when officers spoke to Carroll, they noticed signs of alcohol impairment.
