D.C. Mayor-elect Janeese Lewis George wants to take a "desk-by-desk" look inside some city agencies to find ways to cut costs and make government services run more efficiently. MD school report cards released, Chapel Elementary rated five stars

EASTON — Talbot County’s five public elementary schools earned at least four stars on Maryland’s latest school report cards, with Chapel District Elementary School earning five stars. The annual report cards evaluate public schools on academic achievement, academic progress, progress toward English language proficiency, school quality and student success. High schools are also evaluated on graduation rates and readiness for postsecondary success. Talbot County’s elementary schools improved across all measures. Middle school results were mixed, while high school results improved from last year in graduation rates, progress toward English language proficiency and readiness for postsecondary success. Chapel District Elementary improved in every category and ranked in the 92nd percentile among Maryland schools. It earned 8.8 of 10 possible points for progress toward English language proficiency and 30 of 35 points for school quality and student success. Easton Elementary School rose from three to four stars, improving in all four major categories. Nearly all student groups improved in math proficiency and made gains in progress toward English language proficiency. Tilghman Elementary School also rose to four stars.
