CHOTEAU, Mont. - The Mayor of Choteau has issued an alert to local homeowners, explaining the reasons for the massive hikes in recent home appraisals. The intent of the letter is to explain the reasons for the 43% average increase in Teton County, among the highest increases in the state, estimated in 2023. Mayor Chris Hindoien also responds to past suggestions from state lawmakers that local governments are primarily responsible for recent tax increases throughout the state.

BRADY, Mont. – One person is dead and two are injured from a single vehicle crash on Interstate 15 outside of Brady around noon Nov. 23. Montana Highway Patrol reported that they were all driving northbound in a Dodge Dakota around mile marker 328 when it began to fishtail on ice. The driver overcorrected and caused the vehicle to trip and roll over multiple times. No one in the car was wearing their seatbelt and all were ejected from the car.

Local owners, Larry & Sue Schilling of Choteau, are celebrating a big anniversary… the purchase of their business on October 1st, 1988. Roseann Byler, owner of Byler’s Bakery at 425 Main Ave S. in Choteau, told the Sun Times last week they have sold. The favorite jaunt of Choteau early risers been listed for over a year, with Byler hoping to sell to someone who is willing to keep the business as a bakery and provide the donuts for local customers.
