Planned Solar Farm in Montrose Raises Objections, Concerns
A town-hall meeting was held February 19th to discuss a future solar-panel farm in Montrose, MO. The project will be installed on land owned by Henry County residents who have already entered into agreements to lease their property to Ranger Power, a Chicago-based company who intends for the panels to remain for a period of approximately 25 years. The project will have financial benefits for Henry County, aside from the lease payments to landowners, but some community members have deep concerns about the project.
Two Arrested Following Pursuit of Stolen Vehicle
On February 23 at approximately 7:30 a.m., Deputies with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office were made aware of a stolen vehicle out of Clay County. Just after 9 a.m., Deputies identified the stolen vehicle near Ella St. and D St. in Belton. The vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued.

The Henry County Republican Club held its annual “Reagan Dinner,” named for former president Ronald Reagan, on February 26th at the Clinton Rotary Building. Congressman Mark Alford, Representative from Missouri District 4 of the United States House of Representatives, attended with his wife Leslie; Club President Scott J. Brooks recognized three officials within Henry County who are retiring from office; and political candidates filing for office were given the chance to introduce themselves and address attendees.
Nevada firefighters moved quickly to bring a structure fire under control
Nevada, MO – Nevada firefighters responded to a fire Monday afternoon. The fire was located north of Vernon County square on the 200 block of east locust. Firefighters were able to contain the fast-moving blaze. The investigation is ongoing into what started the fire. The Red Cross has stepped in to assist the residents displaced by the fire.

Warrant issued for Cass County man
A Belton man has been issued a warrant after failing to appear at Clay County Court. Daneal Addison-Marshall, 29, recently failed to appear for an arraignment hearing before Seventh Judicial Circuit Court Judge Timothy J. Flook. Addison-Marshall’s public defender, Andrew J. Ruhlman, was in attendance and requested the hearing be continued. Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Nicholas M. Romano objected to this request and asked that a warrant be issued. Judge Flook agreed with the prosecution and issued a failure to appear warrant for two felony charges of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest, detention or stop by fleeing, creating a substantial risk of serious injury or death to any person. The warrant shows a new bond of $15,000 cash or surety. Before failing to appear, Addison-Marshall previously posted a bond of $30,000 through Michael Palmer Bail Bonds, this bond has now been forfeited.
