BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man who allegedly stabbed a victim in the back and chest while they were eating a cheeseburger was later arrested at McDonald’s, according to law enforcement.

When troopers arrived, they located a victim who had been “stabbed once in the chest and twice in the back” by a man identified as Gabriel Siachia-Mesa, who had left the scene prior to troopers’ arrival, troopers said.

While speaking to a witness, troopers learned that Siachia-Mesa stabbed the victim “unprovoked while [the victim] was sitting on a step outside eating a cheeseburger,” and when the witness then ran inside to call law enforcement, Siachia-Mesa left the scene, according to the complaint. The witness told troopers that Siachia-Mesa told them to “watch out” in Spanish prior to the stabbing.

The next morning, troopers located Siachia-Mesa at a McDonald’s in Buckhannon where he was taken in to custody, troopers said.

In a Mirdanzed interview, Siachia-Mesa told troopers he “did stab [the victim] one time with a kitchen knife following a verbal argument” and that “he then ran to the ‘mountains’ because he was unfamiliar with the area and needed to rest,” according to the complaint.

Siachia-Mesa has been charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding. He is being held in Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
