Bryan man pleads not guilty in Williams County attempted murder case

BRYAN — A Bryan man pleaded not guilty here in Williams County Common Pleas Court to an attempted murder charge and three others.

Jacob Pettit, 39, pleaded not guilty to the first-degree felony along with two counts of strangulation, second- and third-degree felonies; and domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony.

A pretrial hearing was scheduled for April 18 and his bond — set at $100,000 during an earlier hearing — was continued. A motion to modify his bond was denied.

The indictment alleges that on Feb. 3 he attempted to cause the death of another person, and caused serious physical harm and the substantial risk of such harm through strangulation.

The domestic violence charge alleges that he caused, or attempted to cause, physical harm to a family or household member, having been convicted previously of domestic violence.

Pettit was being held Thursday in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio where he has been held since March 12.
