Bryan prevails over Defiance
Bryan controlled the action to earn an impressive 64-20 win against Defiance for an Ohio girls basketball victory at Defiance High on Dec. 2. Bryan steamrolled in front of Defiance 27-3 to begin the second quarter. The Golden Bears fought to a 42-13 half margin at the Bulldogs’ expense.

Defiance College Track and Field turns in solid debut at Oiler Opener
FINDLAY, Ohio - Defiance College men’s and women’s track and field made their 2023-24 indoor debut Friday afternoon (Dec. 1) at the Oiler Opener hosted by the University of Findlay. The Defiance men finished 11th out of 15 teams while the women placed eighth out of 11.
New Castle’s fast start spells fate for Huskies
On Friday night, the Hamilton Heights Huskies were looking to keep winning following Tuesday night’s 26-point win at Clinton Central. Unfortunately for Heights, New Castle had other plans and burst out from the opening tip on a mission. The visiting Trojans got off to a 20-9 lead through one. That made it a difficult hill for the Huskies to climb, in a 51-37 home loss.

Aces Rally to Defeat Lady Pirates, 37-36
On Tuesday Continental High Girls Basketball led Hicksville at all the quarter breaks except the last one. The visiting Pirates came out and took the first quarter 10-9. An even 9 all second quarter had the Pirates with a 19-18 lead at half. The Pirates padded their lead in the third by outscoring the Aces 10-8 for a 29-26 lead heading into the fourth quarter. The Aces out scored the Pirates by 4 in the fourth to take the 37-36 win.
Waverly girls basketball clamps down on defense to defeat Zane Trace in home opener
WAVERLY − All Waverly needed was a quick breakout. Heading into halftime against Zane Trace, Waverly coach John Bonifield centered his players' focus. The Tigers spent the final two minutes whittling away at the Pioneers' lead and had shaved a once 12-point deficit down to eight by the halftime buzzer.
Heights takes North Miami to school
The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team came back from a 15-day break and immediately returned to its winning ways. The Huskies, ranked No. 1 in the Class 3A Associated Press poll and No. 18 in the IBCA one-class poll, took care of North Miami 50-34 in a Wednesday away game. Heights outscored the Warriors in each quarter, although the first period was close with the Huskies leading 14-12 after one.

Wrestling: Southeastern splits dual meet: girls beat Avon, but boys fall
The Hamilton Southeastern boys wrestling team dropped a back-and-forth dual meet with No. 20-ranked Avon Wednesday by the score of 39-36. The Orioles won the first four matches to lead 21-0; junior Aidan Smalley went first and dropped a close decision at 120 before Avon won the next three by fall. The Royals fought back by winning the next five bouts, starting with a first-period fall for Chris Casler at 144.
