A few showers moved through the area this morning getting us set for higher rain chances later on. Temperatures will warm fast and will reach near 90 this afternoon before pop-up storms develop. People frustrated with power outages days after storm
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - People living in one neighborhood in north Baton Rouge are frustrated they’ve spent several days without power. “Everybody back here is single mothers, and we need help,” said Samanatha Veal. “Everybody can’t afford a generator. Everybody can’t afford to go to a hotel, so they need to fix this.”
Severe Weather Threat Returns Tomorrow
It was a sunny and somewhat toasty day across Acadiana with portions of the region climbing into the low 90s, but all eyes are on our next storm system that has the potential to provide multiple rounds of severe weather starting as soon as late Thursday afternoon.

Ignorant of the law, Gonzales Council defers decision on rezone application
Little rhyme and less reason goes into the City of Gonzales’ decisions related to annexing property, just over a century in existence the municipality has yet to figure it out. The Code of Ordinances bereft of guidance, little statutory criteria upon which to base its decisions, Gonzales elected officialdom continues to stumble around, inevitably deferring decisions that should be easy ones to make. Earlier this week a 4-1 council vote punted the application to rezone newly annexed property, ignoring clearly defined state law in the process.
Gonzales mayoral candidate pledges cooperation with Ascension, EA Drainage
At the most recent East Ascension Drainage meeting a group of desperate neighbors showed up seeking drainage help, not knowing exactly where to turn because their Spillman Street neighborhood lies within Gonzales’ city limits where parish efforts are supposedly restricted to “MAJOR drainage.” A time-honored notion, concocted out of whole cloth without a shred of legal support, the MAJOR v. minor drainage myth is pure fabrication to justify denial of drainage works inside two east bank municipalities. Its time has passed.

I-TEAM: DA shoots down judge’s comments accusing his office of targeting Black people
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - In rare form, District Attorney Hillar Moore wants to set the record straight a day after the WAFB I-TEAM exposed a curse-filled rant from judge Eboni Johnson-Rose. During a recent court case, the judge got frustrated with prosecutors who wanted to get a Black man to take a plea deal on domestic abuse and drug charges. At one point, according to the court transcript, the judge accused the District Attorney’s Office of targeting Black people saying, “I know the DA probably wants to throw every black man in jail but I don’t.”
