Person in Multnomah County jail dies, the first in 2024
A person in the custody of the Multnomah County Detention Center died Thursday, according to the county sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s office did not say whether the unnamed person was a man or a woman, but said an adult was found unresponsive in their jail cell about 7:30 a.m. Jail staff soon began performing life-saving measures, the office said, but the adult was pronounced dead by AMR paramedics.

PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center (POIC) has operated in Portland for more than 60 years. Currently located at Rosemary Anderson High School in North Portland, POIC offers a free 12-week construction pre-apprenticeship program for people of color and others historically underrepresented in the trade. Newborn discovered dead in North Portland, police say
PORTLAND, Ore. — Police are investigating after a newborn baby was found dead in North Portland's Kenton neighborhood on Friday morning. The Portland Police Bureau said that officers responded around 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a dead infant near North Fenwick Avenue and North Argyle Street, an area tucked between Interstate 5, North Interstate Avenue and North Columbia Boulevard.
