    Brandon motorcyclist killed in crash involving garbage truck

    RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. ( WJTV ) – A man was killed during a crash involving a motorcycle and a garbage truck.

    The crash happened on Highway 468 near Greenfield Road in Rankin County on Friday, May 17. Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey said the crash happened just before 11:00 a.m.

    Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said a 1993 Yamaha, driven by 57-year-old Charles Bynum, Sr., of Brandon, was traveling east on the highway when it collided head-on with a Republic Garbage Truck.

    Bynum was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the garbage truck was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson with unknown injuries, according to MHP.

    The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
