Man charged in series of fires at abandoned N.J. homes
A man has been charged with multiple counts of aggravated arson after detectives identified him as the suspect in a series of fires at abandoned homes. Albert Caporaso, 49, of Hazlet, was arrested on Thursday. He has been charged with seven counts of aggravated arson as well as criminal mischief and resisting arrest, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

Shark River Channel to be closed to marine traffic Tuesday and Wednesday
BELMAR/AVON-BY-THE-SEA — The Shark River Channel between the boroughs of Belmar and Avon-By-The-Sea will be closed to marine traffic on Tuesday, April 30 and Wednesday, May 1 for emergency repairs to the Route 71 Drawbridge. The closure, which will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and go on until 6 p.m.
Jeremy Cruz Of Forked River Found Guilty
A jury found 53-year-old Jeremy Cruz guilty of first-degree murder. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced the conviction in a news release on Friday, Apr. 26. A driver saw 51-year-old Dawn Cruz with severe injuries on Colonial Avenue near the intersection with Asbury Avenue in Ocean Township just after 1 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022. Ocean Township police found her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
