Time Traveler: Taking a sick day
I woke up this morning to the sound of frantic scratching at my door. At first, I thought I was dreaming but the scratching continued, followed by whimpering and whining. I arose and carefully opened my front door. To my surprise, I saw the Time Traveler’s only true friend, his dog Trav, with a note attached to his collar. The note was written in very shaky style, as if the author was sitting at death’s door. It was from the Time Traveler, claiming he was taken ill by the Head Cold From Hell. His note included a column from a year or two ago. He ended the note by saying he hopes his readers will understand. I have told him I think you will.

Celebrated tenor making a stop in Georgetown
The Georgetown Divide is in for a rare treat May 19 at the IOOF Hall in Georgetown, when Music on the Divide brings singer and songwriter Nick Palance back to the stage. Hailed by critics as the new "American Bocelli," Palance is truly an extraordinary artist. Born in Los Angeles to a musical family, Palance taught himself to play the organ at age 6 and the guitar at age 9. By the age of 14 he was writing songs and performing in Los Angeles clubs with rock bands. At 17 he entered the Southern California Conservatory of Music, winning a four-year scholarship to major in voice and minor in classical guitar. Shortly after graduating Palance began formal training with world-renowned baritone Dr. Hernan Pelayo, who is known for his 10 years as lead baritone at La Scalla in Italy. After a tenure with the Canadian Tenors and starring in the lead role of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” Palance has spent the last few years traveling full time sharing his remarkable voice with captivated audiences from coast to coast.
Question of the Week
What do you think about AKC holding eight independent owner-handled events as a separate event for which exhibitors will pay an entry fee?. As an owner-handler, I feel that asking for an entry fee for a regional competition is wrong. This should be a no-fee situation, as the dogs entered will also compete in the regular classes and pay a normal entry fee. The next step is to charge for NOHS. This is a rabbit hole that will cut the number of competitors. Qualifying for regional competition is fine, but charging is not.
