These 2 Kentucky car events are winning national attention

LEXINGTON, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — The Kentucky Derby isn’t the only horse-powered event bringing people to the Bluegrass State.

On Wednesday, USA Today 10 Best released two new lists focused on motorheads, and Kentucky made both lists.

A panel of experts nominates contenders for all of USA Today’s 10 Best Awards before the “10 Best” editors make selections and present them to readers, who can vote once per category, per day.

Best car shows

The first list, Ultimate auto events: 10 best car shows of the year , featured car shows across the United States. Louisville’s National Street Rod Association’s (NSRA) Street Rod Nationals came in sixth.

The NSRA’s Street Rod Nationals focuses on cars 30 years old or older. The meet will be held from August 1–4 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville. Outside the normal showcase, there are special events like a swap meet, women’s world, builders’ showcase, RC car display and run, and more.

Other top contending car shows included Cruisin’ The Coast in Mississippi at number one, MSRA Back to the 50’s Weekend in Minnesota at number two, and Triple Crown of Rodding in Tennessee at number three.

Top car attractions

The second list, 10 must-visit attractions in the US for car lovers , looks at car attractions from across the United States.

It will come as no surprise to Kentuckians that the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green made the list. The museum came in at just number two, getting beaten out by the Savoy Automobile Museum in Georgia.

The National Corvette Museum celebrates all things Corvette, which are exclusively made in Bowling Green . The museum features exhibits that show the history of General Motors manufactured sports cars since their invention in 1953.

Other car-themed attractions that made the list included the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Pennsylvania at number three, the America’s Transportation Experience / AACA Museum also in Pennsylvania, and the Petersen Automotive Museum in California.
