Deion Sanders has made a major mistake at Colorado and it's too late to get it fixed

There are plenty of mixed opinions out there on Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders.

Not everyone loves Sanders' approach to building his roster primarily through the NCAA transfer portal. Mostly, there are folks who don't like Sanders' penchant for brutally cutting players loose.

Sanders has been in headlines this week thanks to a story from The Athletic that details what happened to the 53 players that Sanders moved on from when he took over as the head coach at Colorado ahead of the 2023 season.

Sanders and his son, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, have been lighting up social media this week with some tweets that have gone viral in light of the story from The Athletic.

Regardless of what you think of Sanders' approach to building a roster -- and ultimately, he's just trying to win games -- one thing that almost everyone should be able to agree on is that the NFL Hall of Famer isn't helping Colorado win games with his social media antics.

In fact, he's doing quite the opposite.

The only thing that Sanders (and his son Shedeur) is accomplishing with his tweets is ensuring that every single team that plays Colorado this season is fired up to play the Buffaloes.

Colorado is going get to everyone's best shot thanks to Sanders. And while some could argue that it might be the case anyway, Sanders' tweets are going to guarantee that every team on Colorado's schedule has their matchup with the Buffaloes circled in red ink.

Nick Saban, the greatest coach in the history of the sport, once said that his players should make every game personal .

Well, Sanders has made sure that each of Colorado's opponents will make it personal this fall.

And the damage has been done. Deleting tweets won't help. Backtracking (not that Sanders is going to backtrack) won't help, either. Nope. The bulletin board material is there for everyone to use. Every team that plays Colorado this fall will be motivated to make a statement against the Buffaloes.

All Sanders accomplished this week was stacking the deck against his own team.
