It’s been an offseason to forget for the Colorado Buffaloes.

A 3-0 start to the season last year quickly gave way to a 4-8 free fall to end the season, and Deion Sanders’ first year at the helm came and went without a bowl appearance.

In the time since, Colorado, a team that lived and died by the transfer portal last season, has seen 36 players depart the program with the intent to transfer.

Tuesday, it was running back Dylan Edwards that entered the portal. Matt Zenitz of 247Sports had the news first.

As Zenitz pointed out, Edwards got Colorado’s season off to a hot start, coming away with four touchdowns (one rushing, three receiving) in the team’s season-opening 51-45 win over the TCU Horned Frogs. Edwards went on to finish the season with 620 total yards from scrimmage.

Before committing to Colorado, Edwards who is from Derby, Kansas, committed to the Kansas State Wildcats before de-committing, briefly committing to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, then de-committing to play for the Buffs. Kansas State will likely be in on Edwards once again in the portal.

To Colorado’s credit, the Buffs did land a running back through the portal on Monday, as former Ohio State Buckeyes running back Dallan Hayden committed to play for Sanders, per Hayes Fawcett of On3.
