Troy man gets suspended sentence for drug possession
A Troy man who recently pleaded guilty after a drug buy and alleged police pursuit earlier this year was sentenced to a 3-year suspended term on April 29 in district court.Jesse David Rebo, 42, was first charged with felony criminal possession of dangerous drugs and a pair of misdemeanors, including fleeing from a police officer and driving on a suspended license.On March 18, Rebo pleaded guilty to felony drug possession. The misdemeanor charges were dropped as part of a plea deal between public defender Ben Kolter and county Attorney Marcia Boris.Rebo, who received credit for spending 119 days in the...
Brod receives Road Scholar Award
BONNERS FERRY — Dawson Brod, a street laborer at the city of Bonners Ferry street department received his Road Scholar Award at the Tuesday city council meeting. Brod has worked for the city for five years and was presented the award by the Local High Technical Assistance Council representative Jayme Coonce.
Local ensemble performs at Carnegie Hall
Bonners Ferry's Boundless vocal ensemble performed to a standing ovation on April 22, at New York City’s Carnegie Hall. The 16 singers from the group were invited, along with other choirs from across the U.S., to present works by composer Ola Gjeilo. This was their second Carnegie Hall appearance.

Corps will increase Kootenai River flows for endangered sturgeon
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ water managers, along with federal, tribal and state fishery biologists determined spring run-off conditions in the Kootenai River and its tributaries warrant starting the required flow augmentation at Libby Dam for endangered Kootenai River white sturgeon downstream in Idaho and British Columbia. The flow augmentation operation entails increasing outflows to provide river conditions to potentially increase sturgeon spawning success in the lower Kootenai River. Outflows will increase May 14-21, as local Kootenai River tributaries downstream of the dam are forecasted to peak.
