Romeoville Father Charged With Killing Son At Will County Forest Preserve in Plainfield
A former Illinois Department of Corrections officer from Romeoville will remain behind bars pending his trial. Fifty-six-year-old Fred Beaugard Sr. admitted to shooting his 19-year-old son to death, execution style at the Lake Renwick Forest Preserve. The shooting occurred Monday, April 29th just before 8 p.m. Beaugard’s son, 19-year-old Tayvion Beaugard was found lying near a picnic shelter at the preserve with two gunshot wounds. The shooting appears to be a domestic incident, and there is no threat to members of the public, said Forest Preserve Police Chief Tracy Chapman.
One Dead Following Single Vehicle Crash
A 63-year-old man from Wilmington is dead following a crash overnight on Monday. The Will County Coroner has announced that John M. Wandless was the sole occupant of a vehicle that struck a tree just before 1:30am on Monday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, at the intersection of Indian Trail and Goodwin Roads.

Irate Customer At Joliet Driver’s Facility Arrested After Attacking Security Guard
On April 25, 2024, at 5:14 p.m., Joliet Officers responded to the Illinois Secretary of State driver’s license facility located at 201 Joyce Road for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers learned that a 21-year-old Aareon Newell of Coal City was a customer at the building and had grown irate at the employees over a discrepancy with his identification card. It was determined that Newell grew angry and began yelling profanities and threatened physical harm toward employees and a security guard.

Nearly a week after a 21-year-old man was shot in the arm while walking with a woman in the area of Water Street and Munroe Street an arrest made. Maurice Robinson Jr. (20, Joliet) was arrested, processed, and transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm – No FOID, and Possession of Ammunition – No FOID.
