Owatonna rallies back to defeat Northfield in Big 9 showdown
It was a tale of two halves on Thursday night, as Owatonna held off Northfield to win 13-10 in a game that featured a little bit of everything from penalties to big saves and big goals. In the early going it was Northfield jumping out to a quick 4-3 lead after the first quarter but penalties in the second quarter would plague the Raiders as Owatonna raced out, responding to what had been a back-and-forth affair, to post a 6-0 second quarter scoring streak. ...
Owatonna’s Emma Green set to throw for Bemidji State after senior season
Sometimes, life just has a way of working out to perfection, and for Owatonna senior Emma Green and the Bemidji State women’s track and field team, the ultimate win-win situation played out. Green is just one of 13 seniors competing on an Owatonna girls track and field team with around 120 total athletes and is currently in the process of closing out her final year as a thrower for the Huskies. ...
Falcon girls bats stay hot, but Komet bats were hotter
The majority of the time when you outhit the opposing team, you win the game. Wednesday night, the Falcons put up six runs on 12 hits, while Kasson-Mantorville had nine hits, but 10 runs. The Komets runs came off timely hits, though, with players on base highlighted by a three-run home run to put the game away for good, giving the Falcons a bad beat and only their second loss in the last eight games. ...

‘I’M SWINGING:’ Huskies answer Northfield’s late rally with Beyer’s 2-out walk-off single
Sometimes the common cliche, “It’s not over until it’s over,” can be hard to believe when things are looking bleak, like while you’re down one run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and no runners on against one of your rivals. But thanks to Ethan Armstrong, Tyler Sheehan, Mitch Seykora and Owen Beyer, the Owatonna Huskies have proof that it truly wasn’t over until a two-out, walk-off RBI single from Beyer made it officially over in a 6-5 victory over Northfield Tuesday. ...
Baseball Game Recap: Kasson-Mantorville Takes a Loss
After flying high against Lake City last Monday, Kasson-Mantorville came back down to earth. The Kasson-Mantorville Komets fell just short of the Lake City Tigers by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. Kasson-Mantorville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lake City apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played.
Softball Recap: Kennady Rutledge can't quite lead Hayfield over Pine Island
After flying high against Blooming Prairie last Tuesday, Hayfield came back down to earth. The Hayfield Vikings lost 9-2 to the Pine Island Panthers on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Hayfield of the 11-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
