Penn Hills School District's 2024 commencement features 296 graduates
Penn Hills School District’s 2024 commencement ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. tonight, May 31, at Yuhas-McGinley Stadium. The district has 296 graduates this year. There are 14 valedictorians, representing the top 5% of the graduating class: Makenna Carricato, David Dudas Jr., London Irish, Caleb Lohr, Isabelle Marazas, Caroline McDevitt, Ian Nadzan, Brice Peeler, Hannah Pugliese, Jeremy Safran, Ari Silverman, Avery Slagle, Caidyn Thomas and Kristian White.
Multiple Pittsburgh-area school districts dealing with whooping cough outbreaks, exposures
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Two school districts in the Pittsburgh area are currently dealing with whooping cough outbreaks and exposures.The Allegheny County Health Department has reported a total of ten cases of pertussis, also known as whooping cough, a contagious respiratory disease which can be spread through coughing, sneezing, or runny noses. According to the Pa. Department of Health, kids should be monitored over the next two weeks for any symptoms like runny nose or coughing spells and report them immediately to their doctors' offices.
