A new sports bar Is coming to west Abilene
A new sports bar is coming soon, as a local favorite, Mona's Sports Bar prepares to expand with a second location in West Abilene. According to co-owner Adrianna Carmona, the business is in the final stages of the licensing process and plans to open Mona's Sports Bar 2 to the public on Dec. 1. "I'm just happy that we can bring something fresh and be able to keep it safe for everybody," said Carmona. "It's going to be a good place to drink and watch some sports and not have to worry about any problems." The new location will open at 3525 N. Sixth St. in the former home of the Horseshoe Bar, which Carmona said recently closed its doors earlier this year. "It's had a lot of renovations done to it," said Carmona. "It's pretty nice and cleaned up from what it used to be, so that's pretty exciting." Carmona, who has worked as a bartender for 12 years, took over ownership of Mona's Sports Bar last year after being presented with the opportunity to lead the business. She said the transition gave her a chance to make changes she believes are needed in Abilene's bar scene. More: Who
