3rd annual Caribbean Patty World Cook-Off this weekend

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — Local chefs will be firing up their sauté pans in the hopes of winning some prizes and bragging rights this weekend.

Caribbean Patty World on Main Street in Binghamton is hosting its 3rd annual Cook-Off. 12 contestants are provided with the cooking equipment needed and will get to select items from an ingredient table to prepare a high-end dish of their choosing.

After the first round, participants will be randomly paired up into teams for a second round. Owner Tanya Williams, who recently received the Greater Binghamton Chamber’s Entrepreneur of the Year award, says the contest is a great way for cooks from different cultures and backgrounds to come together.

“Everyone is a winner. We have prizes and trophies and stuff like that for all of the contestants. The group winner, the main winner, gets the biggest prize,” Williams said.

The grand prize is a Ninja pot set.

Williams also wants to remind folks that her jerk hut out on the sidewalk is now open offering jerk chicken to go on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Cook-Off is tomorrow with judges and contestants arriving at 5 p.m. and the cooking starting at 6 p.m.
