    Big Spring suspects allegedly falsely claiming to be city employees

    BIG SPRING, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – The Big Spring Police Department and Crime Stoppers are seeking information regarding individuals who are allegedly claiming to be city employees.

    According to a post by Crime Stoppers, the suspects are going door to door soliciting, asking to enter residences to get a sample of water. Crime Stoppers said there have been no permits issued to anyone for this purpose.

    While the claim has not yet been verified, Crime Stoppers also said there has been a report of the individuals claiming to be City of Big Spring employees. Impersonating a public servant is considered a third degree felony in Texas.

    If you have been contacted by anyone claiming to be an employee of the city, please contact Detective Clanton at 432-264-2329.

    If anyone is coming to your residence and soliciting for this purpose, please contact Big Spring PD dispatch at 432-264-2244 so a patrol officer can attempt to contact these individuals.
