New Corning bakery opens in familiar Market Street home. What to know
The Dough Company , a bakery that recently opened at 12 E. Market St. in Corning, is fulfilling a longtime dream of owner Kristen Kerr. Kerr previously launched The Dough Co. out of her home on Murphy Road , delivering her products to homes and businesses around the Corning area. Now, her micro bakery specializing in sourdough breads and bagels has taken the next step and has its own space in the city. “I’ve always wanted to own a bakery,” Kerr said. “It really feels good to be here doing this.” Kerr recently purchased Laurabelle’s Cupcakery from owner Tarrah Seaver, which operated at 12 E. Market St. since 2020. “I worked at (Laurabelle’s Cupcakery) since October 2020. I really enjoyed my time here and am looking forward to the future,” Kerr said. “I was so happy when Tarrah asked me if I was interested in buying the business and I jumped on that.” Kerr said she changed the name to The Dough Company, updated the look and the bakery, adding new fresh pastries, sourdough bread, bagels and coffees, just to name a few. The business also has the old staples like cupcakes, cookies, scones and custom cakes, including wedding cakes

I really wanted to play Wednesday," said Sarah, 14. "I really liked what she has to say, and how the story develops." The Elmira Express Junior Players group includes seventh and eighth grade students from Ernie Davis Academy and ninth graders from Broadway Academy. The group also has a student director who is in tenth grade and attends Elmira High School. Between cast and crew, about 60 people are involved, not including parent volunteers. Ira McKinley Screens Stories of Justice, Resilience and Renewal at The Cherry
Documentation isn’t a passive form of activism. Unlike boycotting, donations, or signing petitions, capturing unrest on film and translating it for a national audience means engaging with risk. Leaping into active protests, uncovering and publicizing hushed issues makes the creator a target. As police brutality, mass incarceration and systematic racism are intentionally neglected by the U.S. government, producer Ira McKinley exposes impact on Black communities through the camera. Narratives of resilience, justice, and solidarity celebrate interviewees while drawing attention to a need for vital institutional reform.
