CLARKE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A dump truck driver has been charged with reckless driving in connection to a crash that police say put a 23-year-old motorcyclist in the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash took place at around 11 a.m. on Monday, May 13, at the intersection of Route 7 and Pine Grove Road, just east of the town of Berryville.

It was determined that 61-year-old Don Robinson of Frederick County was driving a dump truck heading south on Pine Grove Road when he crossed over the westbound lanes of Route 7 and collided with a 1996 Honda motorcycle heading west.

The motorcyclist, a 23-year-old male from Berryville, suffered life-threatening injuries and was flown to INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax County for treatment. He was wearing a helmet.

Robinson, who was not injured in the crash, was charged with reckless driving. The crash is still under investigation by Virginia State Police.
