BELOIT — The Beloit Turner Trojans turned a pair of inside-the-park home runs into a 3-2 victory over visiting Monroe (14-6) at the Stateline YMCA Youth Sports Complex on Monday.

The Trojans (7-6) scored first when Emma Bue singled, took second on a groundout and scored on an error. Monroe jumped in front in the second inning, however, on a two-run triple by Emma Tran.

It stayed 2-1 until the bottom of the fourth inning. Kamdyn Davis, the lone senior celebrated on Senior Day, smacked an inside-the-park homer to center field as she scored easily. Two outs later, Autumn Meris copied Davis by hitting a drive to right field and circling the bases before Monroe could make a play on her.

Reliever Lauryn Wells collected the win with 3 2-3 innings of scoreless ball. She allowed only two hits, walked no one and struck out three. She came on in the third inning with the bases loaded and no outs and wriggled out of the jam without a run scoring. She got a strikeout, a forceout at the plate and shortstop Davis fielded Alexis Herbst’s grounder and threw her out.

Bue was the lone Trojan with multiple hits, going 2-for-3.

    • BELOIT MEMORIAL 20, DELAVAN-DARIEN 0: The Purple Knights piled up 16 hits, including doubles by A,iyah Clark, Abbie Middleton and Brooklyn Hereford-Foster and a homer by Allie Gustafson.

Leadoff batter Middleton led the way with a 3-for-4 day with three runs scored and two RBIs. Also with two hits were Jasmine Smith, Gustafson, Chesney Bishop, Rilynne Cleland and Trinity Winfield.

Bishop and Delayna Hyser split up the pitching duties. Bishop went three innings, allowing four hits, no runs, no walks and six strikeouts and Hyser went one scoreless inning, striking out one.

    • HONONEGAH 13, FREEPORT 1: It was a pitchers’ duel for four innings with Hononegah clinging to a 1-0 lead, but the Indians (21-1, 13-0 NIC-10) broke it open with five runs in the fifth inning and seven in the sixth to invoke the mercy rule after six. Hononegah won its 20th straight game.

The beneficiary of all the offense was starting pitcher Aislynn Palmer, who allowed only one hit through five innings, walking one and striking out nine. Emma Tapia came on to work the seventh and allowed two hits and one run.

Hononegah’s 10-hit attack included a pair of doubles by Kaelyn Kelly, another double by Danielle Franz and triples by Mali McMaster, Peyton Klikno and Zoey Calhoun.

Kelly, Calhoun and Klikno all had two hits and Calhoun, Franz, Natalie Kinney and McMaster all knocked in two runs.

    • POLO 10, SOUTH BELOIT 0: The host SoBos (7-8) managed just two hits and committed seven errors in losing to the Lady Marcos.

Polo took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and tacked on two in the third, two more in the fourth and three in the fifth to stop the game after five innings.

South Beloit’s only hits were singles by Zorah Martin and Macey Lineman. Whitney Schnack took the loss, but just one of the 10 runs charged to her was earned. She allowed six hits, walked two and struck out 10.
