This Omaha Nonprofit is Fighting to End Period Poverty
While working with Partnership 4 Hope, a nonprofit that helps serve former foster youth, Nebraskan Kristin Lowrey saw the enormous need for free period products. She started making small period kits for the organization's free store and wanted to learn what others were doing. Instead, Lowrey explains, she found out other nonprofits didn’t distribute any period products because it was too expensive and complicated. She decided to change that.

State, city officials attend ceremony at new Omaha mental health center
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - The City of Omaha reached a milestone when it comes to dealing with youth mental health. It’s called a “topping out” ceremony, where the last beam is signed, raised, and put into place on a new building. It will become the Behavioral Health and Wellness Center at Children’s Nebraska. Trial date set for Omaha doctor charged with manslaughter in fatal crash
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A trial date has been set for the Omaha doctor accused of manslaughte. Dr. Mark Carlson is facing felony charges in connection to a head-on crash on Dodge Street that killed 22-year-old Anna Bosma of Sioux Falls. She was the driver. Her boyfriend, who was in the passenger seat, survived the crash. Bosma had just started graduate school.
Motorcyclist crashes bike, accused of spitting on staff in emergency room
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - An Omaha man was taken into custody Thursday after Lincoln Police said he crashed his motorcycle and then spit on staff while in an emergency room. On May 6 around 2 a.m., Lincoln Police responded to a motorcycle crash at 70th and Douglas streets. LPD said 40-year-old Jeremy Wilcox of Omaha was traveling northbound on 70th Street when he lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected. Wilcox was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
