Tavern-Style Pizza Restaurant to Open in Former Spats Cafe Location
A new restaurant is finally coming to the corner of South Pugh Street and East College Avenue in downtown State College. Connecticut-based Riko's Pizza is planning to open in the former Spats Cafe location at 142 E. College Ave., above Doggie's Pub in the Foster/Gentzel building. The State College location will be Riko's first in Pennsylvania. Downtown restaurant BRGR closes after failing to pay rent
Downtown State College burger restaurant BRGR has closed one month after a real estate company filed a complaint against them for not paying rent. Calder Joint Venture declared SRG State College, LLC, the owners of BRGR, in default for failing to honor rent payments on April 5, according to court documents.

Penn State Arboretum Seeks Volunteers for ‘Palmer Plant-Out’ at New Art Museum
The Arboretum at Penn State is seeking hundreds of volunteers to help with the planting of more than 100,000 flowering perennial plants and grasses around the new Palmer Museum of Art ahead of its opening next month. The new Palmer Museum, located on the Arboretum grounds, is scheduled to open to the public on June 1. The “Palmer Plant-Out" began this week and will continue through June.
