    Spartans Get Final Warmup before Track Regionals

    BECKLEY- The Greenbrier East Boys and Girls competed Friday at the Beckley Last Chance Invitational. The East teams focused on select events as a final warm-up for next Friday’s Region III AAA Championship meet in Charleston.

    East’s Annie Whited missed the meet with an illness.

    The East girls were led by three first-place performances. Noelle McClintic knocked an impressive 2.8 seconds off her season best time to run a 59.8 in the 400 to claim first place. She is now ranked fifth in Girls AAA in this event headed into regionals.

    Neena McClintic just competed in one event, the 1600-meter run, where she won with a time of 5:12.5.

    The Girls 4×800 Relay team made an impressive run to hold off Woodrow to take first place. This was the first meet that this quartet of runners ran together: Megan Cantebury, Luella Mansheim, Maddie Lilly and Kate Atkins. They ran 10:31.21 and put on an impressive showing.

    Other placements for the girls were:

    100 – Kiana McClung 5th

    200 – Kiana McClung 2nd

    800 – Luella Mansheim 6th

    1600 – Maddie Lilly 3rd, Kate Atkins 7th, Luella Mansheim 8th

    100H – Mia Rowan 3rd, EmmaJo Palmer 4th (PR time), Penelope Campbell 6th (PR time)

    300H – Megan Canterbury 3rd, EmmaJo Palmer 7th

    4×100 – Penelope Campbell, Tiana Brigham, Beth Defibaugh, Isabella Gabbert 7th

    4×200 – Noelle McClintic, Megan Canterbury, Avery Thompson, Kiana McClung 2nd Place

    4×400 – Maddie Lilly, Carter Wolfe, Kate Atkins, Tianna Brigham 3rd

    Shuttles- EmmaJo Palmer, Avery Thompson, Mia Rowan, Penelope Campbell 2nd

    Discus – Hydee Wykle 8th

    High Jump – 3rd, EmmaJo Palmer tied 4th

    The girls finished in second place overall.

    The East Boys were shorthanded also, but still were able to perform well and run some new PRs. They too concentrated on certain events for regional preparations.

    400 – Robby White 8th (PR time)

    800 – Jackson Carter 7th

    1600 – Jackson Carter 7th (PR time)

    High Jump – Robby White 5th (PR jump)

    4×100 Relay – Henry Martinez, Andrew Cleghon, Isaiah Bartenslager, Robby White 7th

    4×400 – Henry Martinez, Jimmy Viney, Isaiah Bartenslager, Robby White 3rd (PR time)

    4×800 Relay – Jimmy Viney, Kadom Broihier, Kalem Mahon, Jackson Carter 5th (PR time)

    Shuttles- Aiden Dowdy, Andrew Cleghon, Dylan DePriest, Keshawn Bland
