Raleigh County Active Shooter Community Awareness Event announced

(LOOTPRESS) – Multiple entities have come together for the announcement of a Raleigh County Active Shooter Community Awareness Event which will take place this month.

The FBI Pittsburgh Division and West Virginia Emergency Management Division have collaborated with Beckley Police Department and the Beckley-Raleigh County Emergency Services to host the informative community event, which as of the time of writing is scheduled to take place on Thursday, May 30, 2024.

Registration will be required for those who wish to attend, and attendees must be at least 18 years of age to participate.

Active shooter training from the FBI’s Charleston Resident Agency will be featured as part of the event, along with an overview of grants and resources from the West Virginia Emergency Management Division.

FBI Pittsburgh leadership is expected to be on-hand to discuss international and domestic terrorism, hate crimes, and crisis response to bring attention to important resources and considerations which should be made in the case of such an incident.

A question-and-answer session will follow these briefings. The event has received approval for three hours of combination in-service training for LE.

The exact location for the three-hour event – which will run from 6:00pm to 9:00pm – has not been disclosed, but will be provided by email to prospective participants upon registration.
