Driver killed in single-vehicle crash in Beauregard

A 31-year-old Huntington, Texas, man was killed in a Friday evening single-vehicle crash near the intersection of U.S. 190 and Ball Park Road in Beauregard Parish.

The crash claimed the life of James Vaughn Patterson III.

Louisiana State Police Trooper Sgt. Derek Senegal said a 2005 Ford F150 pickup truck, driven by Patterson, was traveling west on U.S. 190. For unknown reasons, the pickup truck crossed the centerline into the opposing lane and then traveled off the left side of the roadway.

After leaving the roadway, the pickup truck traveled a short distance before striking a tree, Senegal said.

Despite being properly restrained, Patterson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
