Rockaway council updates STR ordinance
Rockaway Beach’s city council approved an update to the city’s ordinance regulating short-term rental properties at their February 14 meeting. The new ordinance gives the council the opportunity to limit the number of those properties in the city and will allow licenses to be transferred upon sale. CARE breaks ground on new shelter
Community Action Resource Enterprises Inc. in Tillamook broke ground late last month on their new shelter facility in downtown Tillamook. The first phase of the project will add a communal, no-barriers shelter open 365 nights a year and six smaller shelters to help homeless clients transition to permanent housing. Police: 'Speed and unlawful passing' factors in Hwy 101 crash that kills two
TILLAMOOK COUNTY, Ore. - Just 2:30 p.m. Monday, Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 101 near milepost 146 in Tillamook County. Preliminary investigation indicated a Mazda Speed, driven by Devin Jay Eberle, 29, of Tumwater, Wash., was northbound when it passed multiple vehicles in a no-passing zone while entering a corner.

S will soon have their long-awaited opportunity to preview and weigh in on Fusion Lodging’s plans for a new hotel to replace Oceanside Cabins. Steve Ewoldt of the Portland architectural firm “Wood Block” has accepted an invitation from the ONA and the Oceanside Protection Society to attend a special meeting at the Oceanside Community Hall on March 5 at 6 p.m. Evoldt (who owns property in Oceanside and eventually plans to retire here) is the project’s managing architect and primary spokesman. He is the one who reached out last year to provide The Oceansider with the preliminary details of the project that we previously published. The March meeting fulfills the commitment he made to brief the community and seek input before the plans are finalized. In addition, county Community Development Director Sarah Absher has announced that she will hold at least one public hearing before acting on any permit applications submitted for the project.
School board briefed on bond
Tillamook School District’s board of directors were briefed on the possibilities for a new bond at their February 12 meeting, as the current bond supporting major facilities maintenance is set to be repaid in July 2025.
