Battle Ground Station opens, with more food carts to come

Main Street now has a greater variety of food and drink options for locals.

Battle Ground Station, the first food cart pod in Battle Ground had its soft opening on Tuesday, April 30. Bobablastic, a food cart chain serving various boba tea and fast food items, is the first food cart to open on the site. The station broke ground in 2021, but saw multiple delays in construction, permitting and licensing.

On April 29, the city awarded the site its certificate of occupancy after a final inspection. At least four carts are expected to operate regularly at Battle Ground Station within the first few weeks of opening.

Vanessa Jimenez, a cart operator for Bobablastic, is excited for Battle Ground residents to try the restaurant’s menu.

“The items we offer are mainly boba drinks, teas and lemonades. We also offer a wide selection on our [food] menu,” Jimenez said.

Bobablastic’s food menu varies from nachos to poke bowls. Jimenez recommends customers try the hot dog with bacon, onions and peppers. New to her position, she looks forward to meeting customers and her neighboring businesses.

“So far I’ve been receiving a lot of help with this, especially with vendors who are experienced with vending to customers,” Jimenez said. “It’s been a very nice, very helpful community, honestly.”

Brunch’d, a local family-owned food cart, announced it intended to open on Monday, May 6. Jonathan Betts, one of the owners, looks forward to serving the “Black & Blue” sandwich, complete with pulled pork, Korean-style BBQ sauce and charcoal brioche buns, which are black and have a charcoal taste. Most of the food items are themed around brunch.

“We’re really excited [that] we’re about ready to open,” Betts said.

North County Coffee, currently parked next to Brunch’d, planned to open for business on Monday, May 6, according to a Facebook post. Additionally, the Taqueria Los Toritos Mexican food cart operating on Main Street will move its cart to Battle Ground Station within the next two weeks, according to an operator.

Parth Patel, the owner and developer of Battle Ground Station, was unable to comment as of press time.
