Elgin Feb 24 Weekly Crime Report: 319 Incidents and 3 Crime Stories. During the last week, Elgin reported a total of 319 crime cases. The majority of these cases, 197 to be exact, were classified under 'Other'. Domestic-related issues followed at a distant second with 44 cases. Theft and suspicious situations were also reported, with 20 and 19 cases respectively. Vandalism was reported 12 times, while assault cases were slightly lower at 9. Trespassing and burglary both had 7 cases each. Arrests were made in 3 cases, and there was 1 reported robbery. This data reflects a concerning prevalence of 'Other' crimes in the place, with domestic-related issues also being a significant problem. The numbers indicate a need for increased vigilance and possibly more effective crime prevention strategies in Elgin.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced the sentencing of Nicholas M. Rich, 35, of Darien, for his role in a fatal accident in Lancaster. State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek sentenced Rich to a prison term of 4 to 12 years.
