When President Donald Trump traveled to Myrtle Beach in August to stump for Sen. Darline Graham, he told supporters he would return for a golf trip if the Republican senator won her election. If the president returns to the Grand Strand, it won’t be to make good on that promise. Despite support from Trump and other notable conservative politicians in and out of South Carolina, Graham failed to sway South Carolina voters at the ballot box. For the first time in decades, South Carolina elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate. Did the Myrtle Beach area flip blue for Dr. Annie Andrews or hold for Graham? The Pennsylvania-based convenience store chain has something of a cult following, particularly for its sandwiches and other fast foods. A new Horry County store would mark the first location in South Carolina. But not everyone’s pleased with Wawa’s plans. Hundreds of residents showed up at the Planning Commission meeting in opposition to the proposed convenience store. Several residents shared public comments expressing concerns that increased traffic would strain infrastructure, endanger public safety and displace wildlife. None of the comments shared as public input were supportive of the plans for a new Wawa. “That intersection is one of the highest collision intersections … I’m already taking my life in my hands trying
