Lead paint health concerns in New Albany homes and buildings
Lead paint in homes is a historically striking issue which can leave homeowners fearful and unsure. Even today, many homeowners are still at risk of lead poisoning. Prior to its official national ban for in home use in 1978, lead paint was sometimes used by home builders in the early 20th century. Due to its overproduction, the paint was cheaper and mostly-indistinguishable from the newer regulation paint.
OSU Extension: Time to hang those hummingbird feeders
It's not too early to put out bird feeders in attempts to entice many of these species into backyards, especially those male scouts. There have been a few accounts of the tiny little bird in Ohio, but many are still south of us working their way north. This means there is still time to dust off the hummingbird feeder and supply it with sugar water. The recipe is four cups of tap water to one cup of table sugar (DO NOT use honey, artificial sweeteners, or other sugar substitutes).
Granville High School presents 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee' May 3-4
Granville High School’s Theater Department presents "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" on May 3 and May 4 at 7 pm. The comedic musical follows an eclectic group of spellers in the race for first place and a ticket to nationals. There is outrage over easy words, and ridiculous example sentences for each of the words. Spellers have to work through the pressures placed upon them by their families. They work through the challenges of adolescence with silly, light-hearted songs. There are candid and touching songs that enhance this exciting musical about what seems to be a boring event: a spelling bee.
