Syracuse, N.Y. — The gunshot that killed a Syracuse man Tuesday night was self-inflicted, police said. When police arrived around 7:14 p.m. to the 600 block of Gifford Street they found a man with a gunshot wound to the neck, according to Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for the Syracuse police.

Mother, son indicted in bail bond scheme that cost people thousands
Syracuse, N.Y. -- A mother and her son accused of a months-long bail bond fraud scheme have been indicted by a grand jury. Thirty-six people have been identified as victims of the scheme, a prosecutor said. They have put up money or property for bail bonds to stay out of jail in Onondaga County, only to find out the bonds were fraudulent.
Fire breaks out in space that once housed illegal nightclub at center of Syracuse neighborhood nuisance
Syracuse, N.Y. — A storage bay that once housed an illegal biker nightclub in the Hawley-Green area in Syracuse caught on fire Thursday night. Firefighters were called at 8:18 p.m. to the former New York Central Railroad Station in the 400 block of Burnet Avenue. The New York State Thruway Authority is warning New Yorkers of a scam targeting E-Z Pass customers where scammers pretend to collect tolls through text messages.
