    Food pantries

    St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry, 401 E. Fourth St., is open from 1-3 p.m. on Thursdays serving the entire community. Parking is available behind the church on Third Street. Call 752-3482.Word of Truth Anointed Ministries, a partner agency of Foodbank of Central & Eastern NC, operates Shepherd’s Food Pantry from 1-6 p.m. every Friday. Free food including fresh vegetables and meats will be given away. The pantry is located at 7227 Stantonsburg Road, Farmville.     Wheat field day

    The N.C. Cooperative Extension will host a the Grow Pro Genetics wheat field day to talk about production topics starting at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday west of Kinston. The event is across from the Mallard BP station, 6130 U.S. 70. Register at tinyurl.com/4sarbc47.

    Ayden First Friday

    Downtown Ayden will hold its First Friday event starting at 6 p.m. on the first Friday of the month. Visit downtown businesses, the Ayden Museum on Second Street and Veterans Memorial Park. Visit facebook.com/downtownayden.

    Artwalk

    Downtown Greenville’s First Friday Artwalk is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. the first Friday of the month. Emerald Express Trolley will offer free rides, and art galleries will host opening receptions for exhibits.

    Powder Puff Bingo

    A ladies-only bingo event sponsored by the Ayden Chamber of Commerce will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the Ayden Community Center, 548 Second St. The ticket price includes four bingo games, one special bingo game, food and beverages. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the Ayden Chamber Welcome Center or online at www.aydenchamber.com/event-5660152. Space is limited.

    Derby Dash Bash

    Rocking Horse Ranch will host the 20th annual Derby Dash Bash at 4 p.m. Saturday at 1721 Blue Banks Farm Road. The event will include cocktails, dinner, live entertainment, a silent auction, a ladies hat contest, parade of horses and a celebration of the therapeutic riding center’s programs. Tickets are $85.     Reptile expo

    The Mid-Atlantic Reptile Expo will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Greenville Convention Center, 303 S.W. Greenville Blvd. It is a sales and educational event geared toward reptile and amphibian enthusiasts. Enjoy a day immersed with others who share your passions for exotics including snakes, lizards, frogs, spiders and more. Chat with the experienced hobbyists and breeders. Access 140-plus tables of reptiles, amphibians, arachnids, supplies and reptile-themed merchandise all in one place. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children 12 and younger.

    Cornhole fundraiser

    The American Legion Ayden Victory Post 289 will host a cornhole tournament fundraiser at 9 a.m. on May 11 to to raise money for the post and for postage money for “Support Our Troops” (NC Packs4Patriots) in Ayden. Registering for the tournament can be done online at https://amlegionncpost289.org/cornhole. The entry fee is $20. Food is free and provided by Mission BBQ to the first 150 entrants. There will also be other paid food choices like “32 Below” Ice Cream Truck, etc. if the free food runs out.
