Smithville softball player Addison Otto voted Austin-area Girls Athlete of the Week

Smithville softball player Addison Otto, who struck out all nine batters in a three-inning 21-0 shutout win over Houston Washington in the bi-district playoffs, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Girls Athlete of the Week for April 22-27. Bowie softball player Anya German won the previous poll, for April 15-20 .

Otto received 51% of the vote. Elgin softball player Jessica Cantrell, Georgetown softball player Cambree Creager, Gateway College Prep softball player Chloe Ellis and Lake Travis softball player Julie Rodriguez also were candidates.

The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Girls Athlete of the Week and Boys Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
