We started our day with a Cosmic Comet from Cosmic Coffee, featuring cold brew, Mexican vanilla, orange honey, and oat milk.

City Editor London here . I’m celebrating my last newsletter for ATXtoday by spending the perfect day in Austin.

Before I transition into a new role with ATXtoday’s parent company 6AM City I asked you, our dear readers , to design my last day as a City Editor. Here is how you called the shots, as a collective audience.

Wake up and smell the coffee

First, y’all sent me to a little south Austin spot known as Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden . Not only is Cosmic one of our favorite local coffee shops , but its commitment to sustainability makes it the perfect pit stop for wrapping up Earth Month.

Our readers recommend we work from the Austin Central Library for the day.

Head to work at the Austin Central Library

Austin’s stunning Central Library is a monument to learning in Downtown Austin. Although we love the rooftop deck, I joined City Editor Figi for a work session on the top floor.

    Grab lunch at KG BBQ

Although KG BBQ was closed on the day I tried to visit, fortunately I’m a frequent flyer . My go-to order is the vegetarian rice bowl with a side of Egyptian mac n’ cheese. Chef Kareem El-Ghayesh was nominated for a James Beard Award last year ( three months after opening, by the way ) for his Egyptian-fusion barbecue.

Record social media content at Zilker Botanical Garden

Austin is a beautiful city, and Zilker Botanical Garden is one of its most beautiful spots. I wandered through the Taniguchi Japanese Garden and Butterfly Trail — I can’t wait to return next month to see the Woodland Faerie Trail .

I ended my day with a visit to one of our newest Austin residents: Malin the troll.

Unwind after work with a walk through Pease Park

I’m so glad y’all voted for me to go to Pease Park , because I haven’t yet had the chance to meet Malin the troll . I must say, her 18-ft frame was quite impressive.

Final thoughts : What a beautiful day. Thanks for helping me plan an amazing day in Austin.
