Benichou Receives Knighthood
The Board of Directors of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra extends their heartfelt congratulations to Julien Benichou, former Music Director of the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (2004-2021) and Music Director of the Washington Opera Society and the Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra, upon his being awarded the prestigious title and medal of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters). “Variations 3.0: One Photograph, 15 Paintings” Exhibit
The Trippe Gallery will be opening a particularly unique exhibition on July 12. “Variations 3.0: One Photograph, 15 Paintings” will feature the work of 15 gallery artists. The idea for the exhibition, now in its third iteration, developed from gallery owner and fine art photographer Nanny Trippe’s post on social media. It featured a photograph of the high tide, sky full of clouds and the Tred Avon River after a significant storm. Gallery artist Cynthia Rosen commented it would make a great painting.

20th Annual Local Color Art Show & Sale
The Working Artists Forum presents its 20th Annual Local Color Art Show & Sale. The show takes place Thursday, July 18 through Sunday, July 21 at Easton’s Christ Church, and is held in conjunction with The Plein Air Easton Art Festival. Forty-two juried artists from the WAF membership and local artists from the Eastern Shore participate each year.

The Working Artists Forum (WAF) proudly announces its highly anticipated juried artist list for the 20th Anniversary Local Color Art Show & Sale this summer. Held annually under the auspices of Plein Air Easton, this well-regarded event celebrates the vibrant artistic talent of the Delmarva Peninsula and the membership of the Working Artists Forum. Plein Air Easton also celebrates 20 years of their renowned Plein Air Art Competition & Festival this summer.
Zebra Gallery Features New Artists

Annual SMAL Members’ Art Show
The St. Michaels Art League (SMAL) Members’ Show will be held at the St. Michaels Library in the rear gallery during regular library hours beginning May 1 through May 31. The exhibit of original artwork in various mediums includes landscapes, figurative and architectural subjects and more, from abstract to realism. Artwork may be purchased directly through the artist.
Winners Announced at Chamber Music Competition
Finalists recently came from around the U.S. from distinguished schools and conservatories to compete at the 11th Biennial Chesapeake International Chamber Music Competition for Young Professionals on April 13, 2024, at the Ebenezer Theater in Easton. The Lerman Gold ($10,000) Prize was awarded to The Amara Trio of New York, New York. The Silver ($5,000) Prize was shared by The Hesper Quartet of New York, New York, and the PULSE Quartet of East Lansing, Michigan at Michigan State University. The Audience Choice Award ($1000) was also awarded to the PULSE quartet. Honorarium Awards ($1000 each) were awarded to the Kodak Quartet of New York, New York, and Trio Menil of Houston, Texas.
