Jorden Edmonds holds offers from the likes Alabama, Tennessee, and Southern California early on, but the rising junior defender from Marietta’s Sprayberry High added the in-state team to the list just recently, as well.

“I spoke with coach Donte Williams, and he said he liked how I played and my physical build and length and blessed me with the offer,” Edmonds said. “I was overall excited because it was a true surprise.”

Part of that excitement stems from his knowledge of the program, as Edmonds is well versed in the goings on in Athens.

“I think all football fans know about Georgia, but I know about Georgia,” Edmonds said. “I think of this football program first. That’s the first thing that always comes to mind. The Georgia Bulldogs have always been one of if not the most dominant programs in the country. Georgia has been stable. A lot of schools have had a lot of change in coaching. There has been a lot of change with most schools, but Georgia is and has always been the team. Tough Georgia football is not secret. That’s what makes them special. They seem to be the template. They dominate.”

Of course, being close to home and seeing the love from the Bulldog faithful has its perks, too.

“It would also be nice to be able to play where my family can come support me,” Edmonds said. “Most of my neighbors have Georgia flags in their yard.”

With the offer now in hand, Edmonds is hoping to see the bonds established quickly.

“I am now excited about building a relationship with Coach T-Rob [Travaris Robinson]. He spent some time with me during my visit,” Edmonds said. “We talked a little about me as a person and also told me some things about him and his coaching history. That is important to me, getting to know the position coach well, getting familiar with his defense, and learning if I would be a good fit for the team.”

Those questions will be answered in short order, as he plans to get back to the Classic City next month.

“Yes, I plan to visit sometime in June,” Edmonds said. “I’m trying to work on my summer schedule now. I play basketball too, and June is very busy. (I’m looking at) relationships,” Edmonds said. “All the facilities are amazing, but my relationship with the coaches is what matters to me the most right now. I am learning, and I want to be comfortable with who will be teaching me. I want to continue to improve. Can I do that there? How are the players with the staff and each other?”

Perhaps Georgia can take a page from one of the standout trips along the way.

“I had a coach, Coach [Kerry] Coombs from Cincinnati, spend time with me reviewing my film, walking through what I did good, what he would like to see me do,” Edmonds said. “That was impressive. He studied me and gave me homework. Those are the best visits.”

Jorden Edmonds ranks as the nation’s No. 107 overall prospect in the 2026 On300 rankings.
