POUGHKEEPSIE – “Memorial Day is not a happy day for many people,” according to the keynote speaker at Monday’s Dutchess County Memorial Day ceremony in the Town of Poughkeepsie. “Memorial Day, originally known as Decoration Day, is the one specific day when everyone should give pause and reflect on the brave men and women who gave their lives while serving in the US Armed Forces,” Madison Fletcher told Mid Hudson News, noting that the loss of life should be mourned rather than celebrated.

Ulster Habitat awarded $38,100 for affordable housing
KINGSTON- Ulster County Habitat for Humanity has just been awarded the Habitat Strong grant, worth $38,100. This grant is administered by Habitat for Humanity International, and sponsored by James Hardie Siding, State Farm, and Simpson Strong Tie. NEWBURGH – The rain held off long enough for the Newburgh City Memorial Day parade to be held.
