Alleged attempted bank robber arrested
A Placerville man was arrested by sheriff's deputies Thursday morning following an investigation into a recent attempted bank robbery in El Dorado Hills. The afternoon of May 10, a man entered an El Dorado Savings Bank in El Dorado Hills while wearing a mask; he threatened violence while demanding money from a teller, according to an El Dorado County Sheriff's Office press release. The man fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. It is unknown if the suspect left the scene with stolen money, as few details about the incident have been made available by EDSO officials in order to maintain "the integrity of the ongoing investigation," according to the release. Officials did confirm no one was hurt and the suspect acted alone.
Driver mistakes gas pedal for brakes, smashes into West Sacramento restaurant
WEST SACRAMENTO – A West Sacramento restaurant will be closed for a few days after it was struck by a car early Thursday morning. The scene was on E. Lake Road, just off of Interstate 80. Around 4:30 a.m., a sedan crashed through the front of Oishii Teriyaki Sushi. As the driver told West Sacramento police, they thought they hit the brake when they actually hit the gas. At least half of the restaurant's front windows, along with its door, were smashed.Oishii Teriyaki Sushi has been in business for 12 years. The owner says they'll be closed for a least a couple of days to clean up and repair the mess. No injuries were reported.
