Anniston, AL – On April 29, 2024 at approximately 7:30 pm, the Anniston Police Department was notified about a possible shots fired call in the area of 3300 Eulaton Rd. in Anniston (Wellborn area). Police officers were dispatched and upon arrival they located three victims that had sustained injuries. An adult male, 23, was suffering from non life threatening injuries, an adult female, 28, was found with serious injuries. The injuries were identified as serious enough that she was transported to the hospital via life-flight. The third victim, a 3 year old child, was also suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg that was determine not to be life threatening but was also life-flighted to the hospital. Investigators at the scene were able to learn that a “black sedan” drove past the victims and opened fire at them. Chief, Nick Bowles, said that he believes this was a targeted attack and not a random crime.

On May 1, 2024 at approximately 12:30 am, the Anniston Police Department was requested in the area of 1500 Brown Ave in Anniston in reference to a possible shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a 20 year old gunshot victim. Investigators were able to learn that the victim was sitting in his vehicle at the location when an unknown subject opened fire on his vehicle. The victim was shot in the shoulder and chest and was transported to Grady Hospital.

The investigation into both shootings is still ongoing and active. Chief Bowles stated, “We believe the second shooting was retaliatory for the first one”. Investigators have become frustrated as there is very little cooperation from any witnesses or the victims themselves. Chief Bowles went on to say, “We have gotten the Major Crimes unit involved and our Federal Law Enforcement partners as well. We are utilizing everything we have to investigate this fully.”
