Weaver, AL – On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at approximately 11:10 am the Weaver Police Department received a call requesting officers to the area of the 200 block of Blue Bird Drive, in the Weaver police jurisdiction, regarding a possible aggravated assault. Upon arrival officers located a 43 year old victim of an apparent stabbing. The victim was still conscious and communicative with officers on the scene. Weaver officers started providing medical aid while awaiting the fire department and paramedics.

Upon arrival, emergency medical personnel determined that the injuries were severe enough to need a air ambulance to transport the victim to the hospital. A landing zone was established and the victim was transported to UAB in serious condition.

Investigators on the scene were able to determine that the suspect, Quinten Lee Paton, 42, of the Anniston area had been hired to complete some day labor work. They also found out that the victim was also hired to complete day labor work. It is not known if the two men had know each other prior to today. Investigators learned that the suspect had taken a box cutter and cut the victim on the neck. The suspect was then removed from the scene by a third party in an attempt to keep him from further attacking the victim. It is also believed that both men are homeless and stay in the Anniston area.  Investigators were able to learn the location that the suspect was brought to and contacted the Anniston Police Department for assistance.

The Anniston Police Department dispatched officers to the American Inn on US 431 to attempt to locate Paton. Upon arrival officers were able to locate him and take him into custody without any further incident. Paton was then transported to the Calhoun County Jail.

Chief Wayne Bush of the Weaver Police Department wanted to say a special thank you to the Anniston Police Department for acting so quickly and making the arrest of this dangerous suspect.
