Brute’s Bleat
Maple Lakes Fishing Pier, of Hwy. 55, was a busy place on Sunday afternoon with most of the anglers fishing off the far end. I’m guessing they were catching Sunfish and Crappies… Dennis Olson, outdoor sports writer for the Minneapolis Tribune, fished Saturday with a group of 13 friends on Lake Winnibigoshish and struggled during the morning when the lake was like a piece of glass. Fishing opener lures in anglers
MONTICELLO — It seems like most everyone was angling for a good catch this weekend. Minnesota’s myriad lakes saw high boat traffic during the 2024 fishing opener, with many from Monticello heading out of town to their favorite fishing holes and secret spots in the state, which includes approximately 4,500 fishing lakes. A few others chose to stay closer to home, hewing to the banks of the Mississippi River, where a light breeze, warm temperatures and sunny skies made for a pleasant and relaxing experience. ...
