No. 1 Prospect In Illinois Announces Commitment To Major Big Ten Program

2025 four-star defensive line recruit Nate Marshall committed to Michigan on Monday.

The top-ranked On3 Industry player in Illinois in next year's class also received interest from Alabama, Miami, Notre Dame, Auburn, and other Big Ten programs, including Illinois, Purdue and Iowa.

His commitment is significant for first-year Wolverines head coach Sherrone Moore. Per On3's 2025 team recruiting rankings , Michigan currently has the 17th-ranked class in the country.

In its scouting profile of Marshall, the site notes the 6-foot-5 lineman's "original plan was to star as a basketball player" before changing course ahead of his freshman year of high school.

According to On3 , last season, the future Wolverine was his league's defensive player of the year after finishing the year with 38 tackles, six sacks and four forced fumbles.
