SUFFOLK COUNTY, N.Y. (TCD) -- Four people have been formally indicted for their alleged roles in the fatal stabbing and dismemberment of a couple in February.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office announced April 29 that Jeffrey Mackey, Alexis Nieves, Steven Brown, and Amanda Wallace were charged with multiple crimes, including hindering prosecution, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse.

Mackey, 36, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and robbery for the deaths of 53-year-old Malcolm "Craig" Brown (no relation to Steven Brown) and 59-year-old Donna Conneely. Nieves faces one count of second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Steven Brown, 44, is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree robbery, while Wallace, 40, is charged with first-degree robbery.

According to the statement, on Feb. 27, Conneely and Malcolm "Craig" Brown went to a home on Railroad Avenue in Amityville and were "violently stabbed." Brown was stabbed once in the neck and once in the torso. Conneely reportedly sustained multiple stab wounds to the neck and back.

The district attorney’s office alleges Mackey, Nieves, and Steven Brown plotted to kill the couple beforehand. After stabbing them, they reportedly dismembered their bodies in a bathroom, then dumped the remains at two different parks and a third wooded area.

WPIX-TV reports a girl walking to school Feb. 29 discovered a severed arm without fingertips near Southards Pond Park in Babylon. Investigators reportedly found another arm nearby, which also appeared to be male.

The district attorney’s office said a female head, torso, arm, and leg parts were located on the opposite side of the park.

Police went to the residence in Amityville where the four suspects had been staying and found "several cutting instruments including a large folding knife, a large kitchen knife, and two meat cleavers" inside. They also noticed blood evidence in several spots around the house.

All four were arrested March 4 for hindering prosecution, concealment of a corpse, and tampering with evidence, then later released because the charges were not eligible for bail, according to the statement. Wallace was arrested again on March 14 for allegedly stealing from a local CVS.

Conneely, Brown, and the four suspects were reportedly "acquaintances."
