Dove Creek Equine Rescue ‘Meet a Horse’ day on May 18

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Dove Creek Equine Rescue invites the community to “Meet a Horse” day on Saturday, May 18.

Officials said the event is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Dove Creek Ranch and entry is free to the public.

Ali McEwen, Director of Rescue Operations and Volunteers, who also chairs Meet a Horse Day,

said, “We invite the whole community to join us for a day filled with family friendly fun at beautiful Dove Creek Ranch!”

Meet a Horse gives residents the opportunity to interact with Dove Creek’s herd of horses as well as other animals according to Dove Creek.

Laurie Higgins-Kerley, Executive Director and Founder of the nonprofit rescue, shared her sentiments, saying, “We love connecting with our community and welcoming familiar faces and newcomers alike. Our community’s unwavering support fuels our passion, and we’re delighted to reciprocate with this special event.”

Dove Creek said attendees are open to activities, including a bounce house, kids’ games, face painting, hayrides, and the opportunity to capture a photo with a horse.

Local food trucks that will be in attendance:

• Tanya’s Burgers,
• Taco Guapo,
• COW,
• Barbeque prepared by the Randall County Sheriff’s Office

Officials said merchandise will be available including shirts, hat, salsa and barbecue sauce. Dove Creek added that Tico will be in attendance with copies of his book “Tico Tails.”
