ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — An overnight traffic stop led to the arrest of an Altoona man police said had a gun that was reported stolen earlier this year.

Isaiah Anthony Shumac, 24, was arraigned on gun and drug charges after police said they spotted him in Greenwood April 17 at around 1 a.m. going roughly 20 miles under the speed limit.

Loan Township police said they began to follow Shumac who turned into the Sun Valley Motel, according to charges filed. Moments later, he was followed to Lehigh Lane where he pulled over in a driveway. Police noted he said he pulled in at the residence because he thought he was going to be pulled over.

While trying to discern who the owner of the vehicle was, police said they discovered Shumac had multiple warrants. According to the affidavit of probable cause, police noticed torch lighters and rubber bands in clear view in the car. Police indicated that because of the location and drug use at motels in that area, a K9 unit was called to the traffic stop.

The vehicle was taken to police impound while a search warrant was approved. A search of the vehicle found a handgun that was reported stolen out of Altoona in January, the complaint shows. Police said they also found a digital scale, two glass smoking pipes, a marijuana grinder and a baggie with suspected meth.
